Why Work with a NARPM Property Management Company? Kitsap County, WA

The Joseph Group Apr 2017

Ian Joseph

“Clients first!” – is a huge part of the DNA that Ian Joseph and his Team have established at The Joseph Group. This motto helps them focus on striving for the highest level of customer experience, for their clients (landlords) and customers (tenants). In fact, Ian strongly believes that in life, family and business, you must strive to give more than you receive. “You can have everything in life you want if you help enough other people get what they want." - Zig Ziglar

Aloha from beautiful Maui. I’m in Maui to attend the 2016 NARPM annual convention. NARPM stands for National Association of Residential Property Managers. It is a trade organization with chapters all over the country that are specifically designed to help us do our jobs better. Why should you only deal with NARPM members? There are several reasons.

Property Management Education

Most importantly, we’re more educated, and not in a college kind of way, but in industry education. Property management has always been a by-product of real estate, and no one wanted to be a landlord because the general opinion of landlords was always so low. But NARPM has tried to break that stereotype and show people that property management is its own industry with its own rules and laws. As property managers, it’s important that we are educated, up to date with laws in our states and federally, and that we learn the best ways to manage your property.

National NARPM Conventions

Every year we have a national convention that brings keynote speakers, workshops to help us work better, and a lot of networking with thousands of property managers across the country. We teach each other how to be better. I might do in Washington that’s different from what someone does in Arkansas. It helps us build better businesses. Any time you can learn from your peers, I think it’s better than learning from a professional. They have lived your same problems and made similar mistakes.

Ethical Standards

Another great thing about NARPM is ethics. We are required to take ethics classes every few years to retain our membership. Integrity is a major part of being a member. This makes us the premier professional property managers for all our clients and investors.

Legislative Strength

Being part of NARPM also helps legislatively. We are becoming more of a political force. We have Day on the Hill events in D.C. and in each state. We work with lobbyists who can help you as a rental owner with fair laws that are not too tenant-heavy. In the past, a lot of state laws have been geared towards tenant rights. We want our owners and landlords to be well represented and the laws to be fair. That requires us to be ahead of the law so we can lobby for or against it.

Technology and Communication

We have access to new technology that helps us do blogs or use property management software. This helps us be more effective for you. NARPM members get a lot of communication information. There’s a magazine that comes out and a lot of moving parts in NARPM membership that helps us be the face of property management education and professionalism.

Even if you’re not one of our clients, we encourage you to hire a property manager who is an active member of NARPM. If you don’t know whether they are, ask them and ask what they did at their last chapter meeting. If you have any questions about property management in Kitsap County, WA, please contact us at Joseph Property Management. I’d love to tell you more about how NARPM has helped us take the hassle out of renting your castle.
