Does Washington have rent control?

Washington State does not currently have statewide rent control, meaning there is no cap on how much a landlord can raise rent. However, that does not mean rent increases are unregulated. Landlords must follow strict notice laws, and several cities have added their own tenant protection rules that affect how and when rent can be raised. Because local regulations change frequently, landlords need to stay informed about city-specific requirements in addition to state law.
